corkscrew workshop
The historic corkscrew workshop is a unique jewel in the world. It was built around 1900 by corkscrew maker Johann Friedrich Recknagel from Steinbach-Hallenberg. The workshop, which is now a listed building, was relocated to the museum grounds in 2005 and in nine rooms vividly shows visitors the entire process of making a corkscrew, from forging the threads and shackles to assembling the individual parts and selling them.
The local corkscrew makers have registered over 130 patents and utility models.
